"Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life".I believe Enactus to be that smallest step. Everybody has goals, but ultimate goal of every life is to attain happiness. More than the society needs you, you need the society for achieving this goal. You might find happiness in partying, socialising, but that would be temporary. Serving the society can give you real joy, it can satisfy your inner soul. Enactus is the ladder to my happiness. I might sound selfish when I say that but the path to be followed by me is truly full of selfless actions. When I joined DrSSBUICET , one episode out of a series of events that occurred was that we were acknowledged about enactus DrSSBUICET through a presentation of Enactus Nationals and the projects our department did. The screen showed off the mixed emotions of our seniors, joy of getting ranked third and tears of not going international. My eyes were shiny, they were dreaming of being there. Then came an unspoken motivation through a series of images on screen, sparkling eyes of women doing phulkari, sweet smiles on their children's faces, the hands of Aids affected women, moulding the wet mud, hoping to find a new life like the pot.The hope, the sparkle, the smiles inspired me, gave me a road to walk on.
The path was a story, with different chapters and in each chapter were challenges and motivation to face them, the obsolete system and creativity for innovation. Each one was about enthusiasm, dedication, perspectives and emotions. Unafraid of the obstacles, ready to unveil the truths in society and realising the harsh realities, we walked down the road to provide unemployed with opportunities and underprivileged with resources to sustain healthy lives.
One of the chapter unfolded when we went to see the construction of the first biogas plant in a village. The construction workers greeted us with big smiles. They were thankful to us for providing them with employment . The owner of the plant, the sarpanch of the village and his family had such big hearts, their hospitality proved how down to earth people they are and we were lucky enough to meet them and provide a solution to their problems. There were many more of such chapters, all taught me some lessons. There were changes in me, all positive but the biggest one was that I now knew the true meaning of teamwork.
Curiously waiting for another chapter to unfold.....
